The Washington State Conservation Commission is a small state agency created to assist and guide conservation districts as they work to conserve our natural resources.  Our mission is to lead the citizens of the state in the wise stewardship, conservation, and protection of soil, water, and related natural resources on private lands.

Manager hired for Office of Farmland Preservation

Steve McGonigal, Manager, Office of Farmland PreservationOlympia, Washington, July 23, 2007: The Washington State Conservation Commission has hired Steve McGonigal as the manager for the new Office of Farmland Preservation.  He will begin the new position in the second half of August at offices in Lacey, Washington. 

Mr. McGonigal, a 1974 graduate of Humboldt State University, has been the Executive Secretary of the Washington State Noxious Weed Control Board since 2001.  Previously, he served for sixteen years as Executive Director of the Washington State Nursery and Landscape Association.
