September Conservation Commission Meeting Preliminary Agenda

Friday Harbor, Washington (photo by Konrad Roeder)A preliminary agenda for the regular Conservation Commission meeting that will be held Thursday, September 18, 2008, in Friday Harbor, Washington is now available online. Prior to the meeting a tour, coordinated by San Juan Islands Conservation District, will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2008.  The tour will be followed by an interaction dinner which is open to the public. Commission Partners on Ag Pilot Grants

Several agricultural pilot projects will benefit from $500,000 in funding from the Washington State Legislature this year.  The pilots were selected for demonstrating increased profitability to agriculture while providing environmental benefits.

Governor Signs Conservation Markets Legislation

A bill directing the Conservation Commission to study how conservation markets could benefit working farms was signed by the Governor on March 25 in Seattle.
