The primary function of this position is the establishment and maintenance of technical excellence of conservation, management, and land uses of woodlands and associated wetlands and riparian areas in non-industrial woodlands. The job requires traversing all types of terrain on foot, climbing fences, and the operation of hand and power tools to examine soils in place and to take soil samples. Physical effort is required. Work conditions involve all types of topography, weather, or related outdoor features. Applications will be accepted until the close of business on Nov. 12, 2009.

The South of the Sound Community Farm Land Trust (SSCFLT) is currently is currently seeking an Agricultural Lands Project Planner & Stewardship Manager.  The Agricultural Lands Project Planner & Stewardship Manager will assist the SSCFLT Board of Directors in finalizing acquisition of the farmland portion of the property by the end of 2009.

South of the Sound Community Farm Land Trust is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created to promote a local food and farming community by permanently preserving affordable land for working farms and rural housing.  SSCFLT's work is based on the Community Land Trust (CLT) model.  Community Land Trusts acquire the title to land and then negotiates long term (99 year) leases.  A farmland CLT provides secure, affordable land tenure for farmers, prevents land speculation, and preserves a local, sustainable agriculture.

Conservation Intern, Snohomish CD

In partnership with the Northwest Service Academy , the Snohomish Conservation District is seeking an education intern to implement and monitor habitat restoration projects, present educational programs in schools, and staff fairs and festivals. 40 hours/week.

The position provides a salary of $1,140 per month for the 10-month term, student loan forbearance and, upon completion of a term of service, an education award of $4,725 that can be used for student loans or further education.

The King Conservation District is seeking an engineer with experience in natural resources, environmental, or agricultural fields.

This position provides engineering services on the behalf of the King Conservation District to urban and rural landowners and small agricultural operations throughout King County. The Conservation District is located in Renton, WA.

Working in the field approximately 50% of the time, this employee must be flexible, posses strong written and verbal communication skills, be able to work independently, and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.

The salary range is $78,113 to $87,946/year. This position will remain open until filled.

Conservation Intern - Underwood CD

In partnership with the Northwest Service Academy, the Underwood Conservation District is seeking an intern to provide natural resource conservation education to young students and adult landowners (including lessons on water conservation, water quality, native plants, firewise principles, livestock management, and forestry), and assist UCD staff in planning and conducting natural resource conservation projects such as tree planting, weeding, streambank stabilization, fuels reduction work, riparian fencing and off-stream watering facilities.
