There were a lot of cameras clicking this past spring as conservation district supervisors and employees set about taking pictures for the photo contest sponsored by the Washington State Conservation Commission. Seventeen districts submitted dozens of photos depicting beautiful rural scenes as well as pictures of people engaged in diverse conservation activities.
All districts submitting qualifying pictures received a $300 scholarship towards conservation-related training. In mid-June, participants at the annual training for conservation employees voted on their favorite photos. The following winners were honored with prize ribbons:
Scenic Photos
- First Place: Spring Rainbow by Karen Bishop, Whidbey Island Conservation District
- Second Place: A Bright Future by Amy Hendershot, Okanogan Conservation District
- Third Place (tie): Light as a Feather by Adam Sant, Thurston Conservation District
- Third Place (tie): Hawks Creeks Falls by Dean White, Lincoln County Conservation District
