The Water Quality Implementation Grants Program is a partnership between the Conservation Commission and Washington State's 47 Conservation Districts that promotes and supports local water quality protection efforts.

Based on local long-range and annual planning, conservation districts utilize the funding appropriated to the Commission by the Legislature to conduct outreach activities, provide technical and financial assistance to landowners for implementation of best management practices, participate in watershed planning, and coordinate water quality monitoring activities.

The funding level is based on the elements of environmental benefit incorporated into each district's proposed project scope of work. Grant proposals that incorporate 60 percent or more of their total project budget to fund implementation activities receive a higher level of funding.
