Really Simple Syndication
RSS is the abbreviation for Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary. RSS provides content from one or many websites in a single location. It is sometimes called a news aggregator. RSS exports content in a form that can be read by any number of reader or aggregator programs. Visit the Washington State Attorney General's Office
for their information about RSS and some useful consumer links.
Is it useful?
RSS allows you to easily stay informed by retrieving the latest content from the sites you are interested in. You do not need to visit each site individually to stay up to date. RSS enhances your privacy because you do not need to subscribe to newsletters or create a site account to get RSS feeds.
How do I use it?
You need to have a reader or aggregator program. The program can be web-based or built in to your Web browser as an extension.
