SCC is excited to welcome Lora Liegel as our new Puget Sound Regional Manager

Lora Liegel has more than 15 years of experience in conservation, agriculture, and public-sector program leadership. Her background includes program development, engagement with key interest groups, partnership building, and coordination across complex systems and communities.

In this role, Lora will work with conservation districts in the Puget Sound region of Washington. Regional Managers support conservation districts across the state by providing operational and strategic guidance while strengthening partnerships and fostering collaborative solutions that connect local conservation work with statewide natural resource priorities.

Lora will support districts by sharing information and resources, facilitating problem solving and collaboration among districts, coordinating with partner agencies, ensuring compliance in project implementation, and guiding long range planning, annual reporting, and key procedural processes such as elections and accounting.

Biography

Lora Liegel has more than 15 years of experience in conservation, agriculture, and public-sector program leadership. Her background includes program development, engagement with key interest groups, partnership building, and coordination across complex systems and communities.

Before joining the Washington State Conservation Commission, Lora served as Program Administrator with the Washington State Department of Agriculture and previously as Executive Director of the Bellingham Farmers Market. Her work has centered on building collaborative partnerships and advancing programs that support resilient communities, working lands, and natural resource stewardship.

Lora holds an M.A. in Social Science: Environment & Community from California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt, and a B.A. in Geography from Oregon State University.
