Stevens County Conservation District is holding an in-person election for a board supervisor position on Feb. 27, 2025. The poll site will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Stevens County Sheriff’s Ambulance building at 425 N. Hwy. Colville, WA 99114. SCCD seeks to promote the wise use of renewable natural resources within Stevens County. Our goal is to develop and implement educational, technical and financial assistance programs to protect, conserve and utilize soil, water, farmland, range land, forests, wildlife and other renewable resources.
Meets the second Thursday of each month at 8:30 am in the district office.
Established in the 1890s and donated to Washington State University in 2020, Vetter Farm is managed by the Stevens County Conservation District and WSU Extension. This 158-acre property serves as a working demonstration farm, supporting soil health research, agroforestry trials, and educational field days that bring local producers together to share ideas and test new approaches.
The Hagen family partners with the Stevens County Conservation District to advance voluntary conservation on their registered Black Angus and Hereford operation. Through programs like VSP and Floodplains by Design, they’re improving soil health, managing manure responsibly, and maintaining productive irrigated pastures.
Stevens County Conservation District, in partnership with WSU and WSU Extension, hosted a Tractor and Chainsaw Training Day at the Vetter Demonstration Farm, offering local youth hands-on experience in agriculture and forestry.
