The Washington State Conservation Commission (SCC) is now accepting Candidate Interest Forms for the Central region elected commissioner position.
The Central area representative seat corresponds with the WACD area map for the North Central and South Central regions, and represents the following conservation districts:
- Okanogan Conservation District
- Cascadia Klickitat Conservation
- Foster Creek Conservation District
- South Douglas Conservation District
- Columbia Basin Conservation District
- Kittitas County Conservation District
- North Yakima Conservation District
- South Yakima Conservation District
- Central Klickitat Conservation District
- Franklin Conservation District
- Benton Conservation District
- East Klickitat Conservation District
- Central Klickitat Conservation District
- Underwood Conservation District
- Adams Conservation District
How to apply
If you are interested in this position, please submit your Candidate Interest Form to the SCC no later than 11:59 p.m. Sunday, November 15, 2026. The only requirement in statute for the position is that the candidate resides in central Washington for the central region position.
Election process
This position is elected by conservation district supervisors in the Central region. They will have the ability to vote online via a secured link provided and emailed by the SCC.
Candidate interest forms will be emailed to eligible voters on November 16, 2026. A candidate forum will be held at the Washington Association of Conservation District's annual meeting on Thursday, December 3, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. The candidate forum will be offered in a hybrid format, allowing participants to hear from the candidates in-person or online.
After the forum, voting will be open for 24 hours beginning Thursday, December 3 at 6 p.m. and close on Friday, December 4 at 6 p.m.
SCC has adopted Interpretive Statement 24-01 describing the full election process and to accommodate the Washington Association of Conservation District’s annual meeting.
