Funding Available for Riparian Restoration Projects Across Washington

The Washington State Conservation Commission (SCC) is pleased to announce that the Riparian Grant Program (RGP) is accepting applications for the FY25–27 biennium. This program provides funding to support voluntary, community-led riparian restoration projects that improve riparian habitat, water quality, and climate resilience across Washington for the benefit of salmon recovery.

Grant awards will be made following adoption of the 2025-2027 guidelines. SCC staff will work with applicants to adapt applications when necessary. SCC reserves the right to offer reduced funding awards.

Eligibility

Only conservation districts are eligible to apply. All other organizations, agencies, Tribes, and local partners are encouraged to work with their local conservation district to identify, support, and partner on riparian restoration projects.

Projects on any land ownership type are eligible, including:

  • Private lands
  • Tribal lands
  • Federal, State, and local government lands
  • Non-profit organization lands

Eligible Project Types Under Current Application

Riparian Grant Program funds may be used to support:

  • Outreach which generates riparian restoration projects
  • Technical assistance, planning, design, and project monitoring
  • Landowner-implemented cost-share projects
  • District Implemented Projects (DIPs)
  • Maintenance of previously installed practices

Application Deadlines

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed monthly. The first deadline is June 13, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.

After that, applications are due on the first Monday of each month at 5:00 p.m. Upcoming deadlines:

  • Monday, July 7
  • Monday, August 4
  • Monday, September 1

What’s New This Round

Please note the following updates to the FY25–27 application process:

  • CPDS entry is required for all District Implemented Projects (DIP) and cost-share projects prior to applying
  • Engineered designs and maps are required for engineering practices that include riparian installation
  • Spreadsheet of maintenance practice locations must be submitted
  • Questions related to the Climate Commitment Act
  • Permanent protection project applications are not accepted at this time as we are awaiting final program guidelines with established criteria. The application for Permanent Protection will launch after the start of the 25-27 biennium.
