The Voluntary Stewardship Program offers counties and landowners a collaborative, non-regulatory path to protecting critical areas while supporting working lands. Under the Growth Management Act, counties must ensure that wetlands, streams, and other critical areas are safeguarded, especially where agriculture is present. VSP provides an alternative approach, allowing counties to meet these requirements through voluntary, site-specific stewardship practices developed in partnership with agricultural producers.
